Custom domains

Point your own domain (e.g. coolapp-privacy.com) at Flycricket-hosted content.

Phase 0 placeholder

Detail ships in Phase 3b. The DNS instructions below are the planned customer-facing flow.

How it works

  1. In Flycricket, add your domain. We give you a TXT verification record to add to your DNS.
  2. In your DNS provider, add the TXT record we showed you to prove ownership.
  3. Add a CNAME for your domain pointing to edge.flycricket.com.
  4. Wait a minute. Flycricket polls your DNS until the TXT record appears (usually <30 seconds), then issues a TLS certificate via Let's Encrypt the first time someone visits your site.

That's it — no certificates to manage, no renewals to worry about.

Apex domain (coolapp-privacy.com not www.coolapp-privacy.com)

Most modern DNS providers (Cloudflare, Route 53, DNSimple) support CNAME flattening at the apex, which is the cleanest setup. If your registrar doesn't support it, you have two options:

  1. Use a www. subdomain (www.coolapp-privacy.com → CNAME edge.flycricket.com) and redirect the apex to www.
  2. Use an A record pointing at the IP address Flycricket gives you. Less robust if we ever change edge IPs, but it works.

Removing a domain

Custom domains can be removed at any time from the portal. Hosted content reverts to your *.flycricket.app subdomain immediately; the custom domain returns 404 to incoming traffic.
